Fresh off of the new Sonata unveil Hyundai has now the all-new Hyundai ix25 at Auto Shanghai 2019. The Hyundai ix25 is a compact SUV, which is likely to be launched in India as the second-generation Creta. The new design language is clearly carried over from the Hyundai Palisade, Hyundai Venue, and the new Hyundai Santa Fe with the split headlight setup, with slim, LED daytime running lights placed on top and the main headlight unit situated lower on the front bumper and a chrome grille that takes massive space up front. The Korean company’s ‘New Era’ theme will specifically highlight its future technologies, new models and Hyundai Motor’s new design philosophy, also called Sensuous Sportiness.
On the side, you'll notice a familiar set of fresh new alloys that have already debuted on the Hyundai Venue. The car looks muscular with flared square wheel arches and thick cladding. The tri-tone paint scheme comes with the roof finished in black and the roof side panel painted white.
The splitting of lights continues at the back with split tail lamps with what seem to be slender LED units connected by a reflector, and the main tail-lamps mounted lower. Although the design looks radical the India spec the second generation Creta could very sport different styling.
Inside, the cabin has almost nothing in common with the current-gen Creta. The interior receives a black and beige treatment that adds premiums to this simple layout. The dashboard is a large touchscreen infotainment system which will include Hyundai’s cutting-edge BlueLink infotainment system that flows into the center console with no buttons at all except for one to start/stop the engine. The model shown at Auto Shanghai has cooled seats and an automatic gearbox with paddle shifters, a combination that’ll soon be seen in India on the Venue compact SUV.
The next generation is also speculated to be available in two seating configurations – a five-seat variant, which will go on sale in 2020, and a seven-seat option that will follow in 2021 in India. While technical details are not out yet the new Creta’s engine options will include a brand-new set of 1.5-liter petrol and diesel units, shared with the facelifted Verna.
